Privacy Policy
Statle is a free daily basketball guessing game. It is built to be as light on data as possible: there are no accounts, no ads, and we do not sell your information to anyone. This page explains the little data the game does touch.
What stays on your device
Your puzzle progress, win/loss streaks, and a cached copy of the player list are saved in your browser's localStorage. This information lives only on your device — it is never sent to us. Clearing your browser storage erases it (and resets your streak).
Anonymous gameplay events
To understand whether people enjoy and share the game, we record a small, anonymous event when you:
- open Statle from a shared link, and
- copy or share your result.
Each event stores only the event type, the game mode (All-Time or Modern), and the puzzle date. It contains no name, email, account, or advertising identifier, and it is not tied to a profile. These events are stored in our database provider, Supabase.
Aggregate traffic stats
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and understand overall traffic. It is privacy-friendly and cookieless — it does not use cookies to track you across sites and does not build a profile of you.
Cookies
Statle does not set any cookies of its own, and uses no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The only browser storage we use is the localStorage described above, which keeps the game working.
Server logs
Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) and database provider (Supabase) may automatically log technical information such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps to operate the service and keep it secure. We do not use these logs to identify individual players.
Third parties
A few outside services are involved in running or linking out from the game:
- Google Fonts — loads the typefaces the page uses.
- Vercel — hosting and the cookieless analytics above.
- Supabase — stores the puzzles and the anonymous events.
- Ko-fi — if you choose to support the game (donations).
- Google Forms — if you choose to send feedback.
- Instagram, X, and TikTok — our social links.
When you follow a link to or interact with one of these services, that service's own privacy policy applies.
Children
Statle is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can clear your browser's storage at any time to remove the local game data, and you can use your browser's tracking-protection settings or extensions to block analytics.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game evolves. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
